Managing the Mental Health Risks of Your International Students and Your Students Going Abroad

08:30 to 12:00

This training gives mental health the attention it deserves. It enables participants to recognize and prevent situations that could lead a traveler to a crisis. Encouraging learning through roleplaying, this workshop presents basic theoretical information on mental health and helps develop the know-how required to manage a situation involving a person struggling with a mental health disorder or problem. Ten days before the workshop, participants will have access to an online module (approx. 75min) during which they’ll be exposed to theory and concepts. This in-person session will then focus on discussions and group work.

Learning Outcomes

  • Explore mental health and its continuum.
  • Recognize a mental health crisis and explore the mental health intervention process.
  • Recognize the limits of your role during an intervention and identify the resources available to help a person in crisis during a trip.

Please note that this workshop will be facilitated in English, however questions can be asked in either official language.
