Farah Mohamed
Social Entrepreneur and CEO King’s Trust Canada - Former COO Canada’s Forest Trust | CEO of the Malala Fund | Founder & Advisor to G(irls)20Farah Mohamed’s singular mission: to put practical solutions to inequity in front of decision-makers and galvanize them to action. A refugee from Uganda, Farah came to Canada as a child and her journey is what inspired her to spend her career working alongside politicians, entrepreneurs, business leaders and philanthropists, forging partnerships and disrupting the status quo to build a more equitable and sustainable Canada.
Beginning her career serving Canadian politicians as a senior advisor she noticed a lack of women at decision-making tables across all sectors, and thought she better do something about it. Named an “impatient activist” by the Bill & Melinda Foundation, Farah soon founded G(irls)20 (now FORA Network for Change). In 2017 she was named CEO of the Malala Fund, earning her recognition as one of BBC’s Top 100 Women, and in 2022 Farah was appointed CEO of the King’s Trust Canada (formerly Prince’s Trust Canada).
She is a devoted volunteer and currently serves on the Board of Directors of RefugePoint Apolitical and the Harbourfront Centre in Toronto.
She holds an M.A. in Political Science from Western University, a B.A. in Political Science from Queen’s University, as well as an Honorary Doctorate of Law from Western University, and has been honoured with a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal and The Order of Merit of Canada.
