Internationalization of ASEAN Higher Education: Cooperation in a Changing Market
Cross-border exchange of education services has increased dramatically in ASEAN over the past decade, as students increasingly seek opportunities within their own region. Educational institutions are enhancing the quality, quantity, and scope of education services to meet the needs of the growing economies in the region. Mobility trends and the internationalization of education services are sharply on the rise, driven in part by domestic factors and reforms, investment, the impact of the pandemic, and the growth of the digital economy. This session will examine the growth of international education hubs in ASEAN, the transformation of education services, and transnational education. It will also explore how the internationalization of ASEAN higher education can enhance cooperation, economic development, people-to-people connectivity, research collaboration, and innovation.
