CBIE is looking for event volunteers!

CBIE2024 is Canada’s international education (IE) conference that brings together over 1,000 international education practitioners from Canada and around the world to learn, be inspired and connect.

To help support our conference, CBIE is looking for student volunteers fluent in English or French who are available to commit to at least two four-hour shifts from November 3rd to 6th and attend a mandatory orientation session on November 2nd at the Westin Hotel.

We are recruiting for the following positions:

Registration Desk Attendant

This position involves welcoming attendees, distributing swag items, assisting with on-site registration, identifying and troubleshooting issues with CBIE staff, and supporting name-badge printing.

Lobby Ambassador

This position involves answering attendee questions and guiding people to various locations throughout the conference. This year our conference is taking place across two adjacent venues, so it will be important for Lobby Ambassadors to know the layout of the space and where the various activities will take place.

Session Monitor

This position involves keeping track of the number of attendees entering the various workshops and sessions that will be held on site, monitoring room capacity, and identifying and troubleshooting any issues with CBIE staff.

Microphone Runner

This position involves monitoring the keynote session audience during question periods, and bringing wireless microphones to attendees so that they can ask their questions out loud.

In Appreciation

In appreciation for their time and hard work, we are pleased to offer volunteers:

  • Access to conference sessions (that do not conflict with their duties);
  • Free lunch during each shift;
  • Exposure to world-class speakers;
  • An incredible global networking opportunity;
  • A free CBIE volunteer t-shirt;
  • A letter confirming their contribution and participation in the conference.

If you are interested in this opportunity, please apply by no later than October 18.
